"Official" Medical School Sites
AAMC
The Association of American Medical Colleges has great
information about the field of medicine. The home page includes
links to Careers in Medicine, which is a great place to start
learning about what kind of doctors there are, what they do, and how
much they make. You'll also find links to MCAT
information, financial
information, and the MSAR.
MSAR
The MSAR is a must-have for choosing your medical
schools. You'll find great information about the school's average
MCAT, GPA and other statistics. Be aware that rarely this
information does differ from the school's website, so you'll want to
double check with the schools, especially about individual medical
school requirements. You'll also find a good amount of this
information, along with school rankings, on my list
of schools page. I'm adding more schools all the time!
Medical School Blogs
MDJourney.com
Steve has done a great job of chronicling his time
spent as a premed applying to medical school and throughout his
medical school career. This is a great source of information to see
just how the premed and medical school experience is!
My Pre-Medical
Transformation
This is another great chronicle of a student's journey
through premed and medical school. Justin is a "non-traditional"
applicant, which makes his story particularly interesting.
Practical Premed
One of the best premed blogs I've seen. You'll get all kinds of tips on how to do everything from get the classes you need to preparing yourself well for your medical school interviews. Well-researched, well-written and a great read for any premed student.
Mrs. Mommy MD
A blog that chronicles the journey of a woman of faith through her medical school journey as a wife and mother. Great blog to see what it's like to be a parent in medical school!
A Future MD
Great information that you'll want to know about applying to medical school. Interesting content with interviews, FAQs and more!
Short White
Coats
This blog has a ton of useful information. It includes
interviews about why different people choose their specialties, book
advice, interesting clinical information, and other things you'll
want to know as a premed and medical student. A definite
must-read.
JeffreyMD
Another great blog about the medical school experience. Lots of posts so you get a good feel for each stage of medical school.
The Hero Complex
Another solid blog about a medical student's experiences. He even managed to get a medical school scholarship, which is very impressive! Also has some great advice on MCAT preparation, particularly about verbal reasoning.
Diary of
a Caribbean Med Student
Just like it says, this one goes through Benji's
experience at the American University in the Caribbean medical
school. A great resource for understanding what Caribbean medical
school is all about.
